Workshops that run on systems

Workshop management built on proven systems and efficient processes, with the single points of failure designed out. Fifteen years in the motor industry, two branches built from an empty floor.

Systems precede execution.

I'm Mahfudh — Branch Manager at Auto Metrix Lavington. I came up through spare parts and IT before the workshop floor, which is why what I build ends up in a tracker instead of in someone's head.

I've opened two branches. Both still run the way they were set up, and that's the part I'm proudest of — it means the systems held after I moved on. What works, I write down.

What I do

The job, in six parts

01

Branch & P&L

The revenue target, the cost line, and reporting that shows where the month actually went.

02

Workshop operations

Bay planning, job flow, turnaround, checks before release. More cars through the same footprint, fewer comebacks.

03

Teams & shifts

Teams of 12–19. I designed the company's first two-shift roster — coverage minimums, paired off days, comp-off that balances.

04

Training & new lines

Technicians taught diagnostics and European systems — then the revenue that capability opens up.

05

Marketing & online presence

Bays only stay full if the phone rings. Google Business, reviews, WhatsApp follow-up and social — the side of workshop management most garages still leave to chance.

06

Parts & procurement

Sourcing, negotiation, and closing the gap between what leaves the store and what reaches the invoice.

And, um… I also write about car stuff

Basic car things every owner should know — what that noise probably is, when a service is actually due, what to check before a long drive, what the quote is really saying. Written for the owner, not the mechanic. Free, and there's a new one most weeks.
